The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport will begin a project this year to increase the taxiways for domestic flights at Fukuoka Airport as a way to reduce the congestion. Plans call for the work to be finished in 2019. There is only one taxiway parallel to the runway now for domestic flights, causing a long line of aircraft waiting to depart during times of congestion.
