Local elementary and junior high school classes are set to resume on May 21 partially, and then slide into regular operations. While conventional courses are 50 minutes at junior high schools and 45 minutes at the elementary schools, they will be shortened by 10 minutes to create time for one additional daily class until the end of the current academic year. Also, regional schools plan a 13-day summer vacation between Aug. 7 ~ 19 as well as biweekly Saturday classes. According to the local board of education, the plan will enable schools to cover the entire curriculum of Japanese, math, English, science, and social studies. Source: NHK
