Nagasaki College of Foreign Languages to Close
The only two-year college in Kyushu specializing in foreign language study, the Nagasaki College of Foreign Languages, will stop accepting applications from prospective students starting next school year. The Nagasaki City-based school then plans to shut its doors in March 2010. The school was opened in 1945 and became a two-year college in 1950. The school has been unable to attract the 80 students annually it needs to continue since 1997, and this year’s entering class has only 40 students.
