The traditional festival of Nagasaki Kunchi will cancel its dedication dance. The performance during Kunchi shinto festival is one of Japan’s Intangible Folk Cultural Properties. Reflecting the current situation of the spread of the new coronavirus, the organizers judged that it would be difficult to safely yet thoroughly prepare for the historical performance. It will be the first cancellation in since 1988, when the Emperor Showa became seriously ill.
