Nagasaki University Makes Career Education Compulsory

Nagasaki University, a comprehensive institution with about 9,000 students, mandates career education for all students, starting from their freshman year. The aim is to instill essential professional skills in students and enable them to think proactively about their future careers. Key components of the curriculum include societal experiences, such as internships and volunteer work, along with self-analysis of personal strengths and interactive discussions with students from various faculties. As part of this endeavor, in 2022, the university introduced the “Nagasaki Co-creation Internship” – a scholarship-type initiative that provides a monthly stipend to students interning at Nagasaki-based companies during their summer holidays.
