Fukuoka City plans to introduce up to eight six-car trainsets a year on the Nanakuma subway line from fiscal 2030, reaching 25 by fiscal 2034. The line currently operates four-car trains and has faced increased crowding since its 2023 extension. Before the longer trains arrive, the fleet will grow from 21 to 25 trainsets by spring 2027. Timetable changes in autumn 2026 and spring 2027 will raise service during the busiest 8 a.m. hour from 18 to 21 trains.
