Negotiations Progress over New MICE Facility at Nagasaki Station

Nagasaki City announced that a group headed by the Kyudenko Corporation has been given priority in negotiations to develop a new MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) exchange facility on the western side of JR Nagasaki Station. One of the conditions for enterprises bidding for the contract was that their plans allow for a new hotel development on the same premises. Enterprises bidding for the contract were expected to make allowances in their plans for a new hotel development, and as such the Kyudenko-led group is looking into the possibility of bringing Hilton Hotels & Resorts to the table. The proposed design includes convention halls and conference rooms, as well as space for exhibitions and events. The hotel/accommodation facility has been assigned a total of 10 floors within the development. The project is expected to cost ¥14.7 billion. The city hope that it will make the area around Nagasaki’s central station more attractive and help combat against population decline in the region. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 11/25
