New Fukuoka Airport Management Selection Progressing

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced on September 15 that the initial stage in selecting an organization to take over the management of Fukuoka Airport was completed. Five applicants were whittled down to three possible candidates. Although the names have not been released, it is understood that Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Kyuden) and Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd. (Nishitetsu) are two of the companies that passed the local union screening. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will base their selection on business plans with the ability to attract airlines and improve the facility’s convenience. The winning bid will be announced by May next year. Source: Sankei Shimbun, 9/16/2017
