New JMSDF Frigate Tatsuta Launched In Nagasaki

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries held a launch ceremony on July 2 for the latest Mogami-class multi-mission frigate at its Nagasaki Shipyard. The 11th vessel in the series was named “Tatsuta” by former Defense Minister Gen Nakatani. Following equipment installation, the ship is scheduled for delivery in fiscal 2026. Of the planned 12 Mogami-class frigates, 10 are being built in Nagasaki. Tatsuta measures 133 meters in length and 16.3 meters in width, and is designed to operate with a crew of about 90. Construction costs for the 11th and 12th vessels total approximately ¥116.6 billion. The government also aims to export this class to Australia. Source: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
