Kintetsu Real Estate Co., Ltd has announced plans to construct a new building (Kintetsu Hakata Building, temporary name) in front of the Chikushi Exit at JR Hakata Station where the Miyako Hotel was previously located. It will function as both a city hotel and commercial facility. Due to open before the start of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, the project will benefit from Fukuoka City’s decision to relax the floor area ratio for buildings, in order to attract luxury hotels developments. The building will be 13 floors high, with the hotel located from level three to 13. The basement will link directly to the subway and train station. Hotel room rates are estimated at ¥20,000 per night on weekdays and ¥30,000 on weekends.
