Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd. (Nishitetsu) announced on January 25 that their new tourist train called “The Rail Kitchen Chikugo” will run on the Tenjin Omuta Line. A large kitchen will be set up on-board serving freshly prepared dishes made with ingredients sourced from the Chikugo region. The train service will begin in spring 2019 and seat 52 passengers. The interior will feature local products from locations dotted along the railway line, including Yame bamboo on the ceiling and Okawa woodwork in the furniture. The company hopes that the service will attract both residents and tourists. It was reported that approximately ¥500 million will be invested into the project. Source: Sankei Shimbun, 1/26/2018
