JR Hakata City released its sales figures for the 2017 financial year. Total sales for the seven facilities on the station premises, which include Amu Plaza and Hakata Hankyu, reached a record high. Earnings were up to ¥113 billion, a 6.5% increase compared to the previous year. Events that took place in the plaza in front of Hakata Station and the JR Kyushu Hall proved successful throughout the year. Amu Plaza took ¥41 billion, which represented a 5.5% rise, while sales for Hankyu rose by approximately 7% to ¥47 billion. Earnings for the branch of Amu Plaza located inside the JR Kokura Station rose by 1% to ¥12.1 billion. The increase has been partly attributed to the refurbishment that was carried out on the premises from April to June last year. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 4/6/2018
