Nishitetsu has manufactured the first overseas retrofit electric buses in Japan with the help of a leading electric bus manufacturer in Taiwan. The retrofit electric buses are made by converting old diesel buses into electric ones. The company has improved the battery durability by changing the way it cools the battery from air to water, which is expected to increase battery life by around two years compared to traditional retrofit electric buses. The two electric buses being manufactured in a domestic factory will begin operating in Fukuoka City in April. The company is making this move towards creating a carbon-free society. Source: RKB
