New Subway Station Exits Announced

On Jan. 19, Fukuoka City released its layout for exits for the new Nanakuma Line subway station to be built in between Tenjin-minami and Hakata stations. Construction began on the subway extension in Dec. 2013, and is slated for completion in 2020. The new station, which will be located beneath Hakata Ekimae-dori, will have five exits— one above the center of the yet-to-be-named station and two exits each on the Nakasu and Hakata sides. Meanwhile, an additional two exits are under consideration, one of which would link directly to the East Building of Canal City. City Hall is currently in talks with Canal City operator Fukuoka Jisho Co. about footing the cost of the directly-linked exit. Source: Asahi Shimbun 1/20
