Nishi-Nippon Financial Holdings has announced plans to establish a new university-affiliated venture fund next fiscal year. With the uptick in startups in Fukuoka, the company decided to expand its existing fund to cover ventures originating from universities. The Nishi-Nippon City Bank, one of Nishi-Nippon Financial Holdings’ banks, launched a university-affiliated venture fund in 2015 and has invested in 25 companies since then, including developers of displays and medical devices. Keeping a close eye on new technologies developed by universities, the new fund will provide financial support to venture companies before and after the startup phase. Source: http://www.fiba.jp/
