Nishitetsu to Discontinue ¥100 Circular Bus Route

On February 26, Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd., (Nishitetsu) announced plans to reorganize bus routes in the center of Fukuoka City. A shortage of drivers was cited as the main reason for discontinuing the ¥100 circular bus route running between Tenjin and Hakata. The service will stop on March 17 and be replaced with a reduced service called the Canal City Line. The new route will no longer stop along Meiji-Dori, but continue to connect Tenjin and Hakata via Canal City. Other changes included the departure times for some late night buses bound for destinations such as Iizuka or Munakata. These will depart from Tenjin and Hakata as much as 50 minutes earlier than they do now. This is the first time Nishitetsu has had to reorganize routes due to a lack of drivers.
