Nishitetsu to test Smart Bus Stops in Kitakyushu

On February 20, Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd (Nishitetsu) began trialing a system of smart bus stops, which use electronic paper to display easy-to-read travel information. The stops feature information screens that utilize new forms of technology in order to display time schedules, travel updates, and news about possible delays. The text can be enlarged to help those with eyesight difficulties and will be available in a number of languages (English, Chinese, and Korean). The devices have been developed in cooperation with the Yaskawa Information Systems Corporation, a manufacturing business based in the local area, and in the long term aim to reduce paper waste. The smart bus stops were introduced at three locations in Kitakyushu City and their success will be reviewed after one year. Source: Sankei West, 2/20/2018
