Nissan to Start Kyushu Production of Two Models in 2027

Nissan Motor planned to begin phased production of two vehicle models at its Nissan Motor Kyushu plant in Kanda, Fukuoka Prefecture, from around summer 2027, sources said on January 8. The move followed Nissan’s decision to end vehicle production at its Oppama plant in Kanagawa Prefecture by the end of fiscal 2027 and consolidate output of two core models in Kyushu. Production of the Kicks SUV was scheduled to start first, followed by the Note compact car from spring 2028. Output would be increased gradually, with Nissan Motor Kyushu aiming to raise annual production from about 300,000 units to its maximum capacity of 500,000 units by fiscal 2028. The company planned to transfer some Oppama plant workers to Kyushu, though the scale of personnel transfers had not been decided. Source: NHK News / Nishinipon Shimbun
