Tokyo-based Nisshin Seifun Group, a food products company, announced they will build a new flour milling plant in Fukuoka City’s Chuo Ward by the spring of 2014. They will close their existing plants in Tosu, Saga Prefecture, and Chikugo, Fukuoka Prefecture, and concentrate production at the new plant. The existing plants are some distance away from ports and the new plant is a way to cut shipping costs. The new plant will produce an amount sufficient to supply the Kyushu region plus Yamaguchi Prefecture.
