Northern Kyushu Rainy Season Begins

The Fukuoka Regional Meteorological Observatory announced on June 4 that northern Kyushu had likely entered the rainy season, marking the start of the region’s annual tsuyu period. The declaration came 19 days later than in 2025 and matched the long-term average. A seasonal rain front stretched from southern Kyushu into the East China Sea and was expected to move northward through the day. Meteorologists said a low-pressure system along the front could approach northern Kyushu, bringing periods of heavy rain to some areas from the afternoon of June 4. Unsettled weather was forecast to continue through the weekend, and residents were urged to stay informed about weather conditions and rainfall forecasts. Source: NHK News / KBC News
