The Kitakyushu-based non-profit organization Town Mobile Network Kitakyushu has launched the Epoca card, in which environmentally friendly activities can be converted to “eco-points”, which in turn can be exchanged for coupons. Examples of the activities that can be used to gain eco-points are the use of special eco-lockers at the JR Kokura Station, and the use of specially designated buses and trains on “public transport eco-days” to be held once or twice a month. The organization hopes this will make people more aware of and participate in CO2 reduction.
