40 troops from the Fukuoka-based Ogori Army Division Camp of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces were deployed for peacekeeping operation in South Sudan on May 26. The Ogori division is the first of four Kyushu-based divisions scheduled to arrive in Juba, the capital of the Republic of South Sudan. By June 18, a total of 330 peacekeepers will be working on road maintenance and land forming in Juba where they will remain for around six months.
