Marubeni Corporation has completed construction on Japan’s largest solar panel array in a seaside industrial park in Oita City. Composed of 340,000 panels covering 105 hectares, the 80,000 plus kW power generation facility will be run by a subsidiary called Oita Solar Power. The array is expected to generate 87 million kWh of electricity annually—enough to power 30,000 homes—all of which will be sold back to Kyushu Electric Power for 20 years.
