Oita Prefecture collaborates with American Satellite Launch Company

Oita Prefecture has partnered a California-based satellite launching company to develop a horizontal-launch port. According to an announcement by the prefecture on April 3, it will collaborate with Virgin Orbit and ANA Holdings to open the first spaceport of the kind in Asia. The take-off method under development uses conventional horizontal-takeoff aircraft to carry satellites. The project aims to launch satellites beginning in 2022. Source: Mainichi 2020-04-04
