Oita Prefecture Sign Agreement With Shanghai Travel Agent

Oita Prefecture has signed an agreement with a Shanghai-based travel agents in an effort to attract independent travelers from China. The prefectural tourism office will work with Ctrip, an online travel company that operates a large-scale reservation website, in order to promote Oita and better understand the habits of Chinese tourists. An Oita Prefecture survey revealed that the number of people visiting Oita Prefecture from mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong has increased rapidly in recent years. Last year, the number reached over 330,000, which was three times higher than the figure from five years ago. Source: NHK News Web, 9/10
