Oita’s Goto Seika Wins Gold at SIP Awards for Fermented Ginger Ale

Goto Seika Co., Ltd. of Usuki, Oita Prefecture, has made history as the first Japanese company to win a Gold Medal in the Ginger Beer/Ginger Ale category at the 2025 SIP Awards in the United States. The company also received an Innovation Award for its Shoga Hyakkei Fermented Ginger Ale, recognized for its refined, dry taste and distinctive fermented aroma.

The SIP Awards, an international competition judged by consumers through blind tastings, saw over 1,300 entries from 47 countries this year. Launched in 2023, Shoga Hyakkei is Goto Seika’s lifestyle brand exploring new ways to enjoy ginger. The brand emphasizes sustainable production using organic farming and traditional “jigoku-mushi” steaming methods.

Goto Seika, founded over a century ago as a usuki senbei maker, said the recognition affirms the quality and innovation behind its craft beverage, reflecting growing demand for flavorful, non-alcoholic drinks both in Japan and abroad. Source: Goto Seika
