Olympic Kimono Project Including Kurume Kasuri and Hakata Ori Now Online

A thirteen-minute online video, featuring 213 sets of kimono and obi designed using imagery of countries and regions worldwide is now online. Developed by a Tokyo-based project owner, Imagine One World, the ‘Kimono Project’ collaborated with kimono craftspeople in 18 prefectures across Japan. From Kyushu, artisan of Kurume kasuri and Hakata ori participated. While the games of Tokyo 2020 were rescheduled to 2021, the project celebrates the night on which Tokyo 2020 was initially scheduled to open with the release of the video. Also, the garments will be exhibited at a special exhibition in Kyoto in October. Source: piow.jp
