Ordinance To Prohibit Touting in Designated Areas of Kitakyushu

Kitakyushu City has compiled the outline of an ordinance to prohibit touting outside of restaurants and other establishments in the area around JR Kokura Station. According to Kitakyushu City, there have been numerous complaints about touts at taverns, karaoke parlors, and other establishments in the downtown area around Kokura Station, including complaints that pedestrian paths have been blocked. Such touting is prohibited by prefectural ordinances but not enforced. Violators will be fined up to ¥50,000. In the case of particularly egregious violations, the store’s name will be made public. The draft ordinance will be submitted in September of this year. Source: NHK
