Otter Cafe Opens in Daimyo, Fukuoka

A cafe along the lines of a cat cafe, but with otters instead of pussycats, has opened in Daimyo and is attracting increased attention. Kotsumeito welcomes guests with cute kotsume kawauso (small-clawed otters) and a few other animals. Patrons are allowed to watch and hold the critters after washing and sanitizing their hands. This species of otter is included in CITES Appendix I; and the cafe makes an effort to inform the public of the importance of stopping the smuggling of otters.  Source: Kotumate / Yahoo
