July 28 was the 10th anniversary of the Saga Airport, yet the outlook for the airport turning a profit is bleak. In FY 2007, the airport had roughly 280,000 users on three daily round-trip flights to Haneda in Tokyo and two to Itami in Osaka. The low number of flights forces the prefecture to provide several hundred million yen a year in financial support. As of FY 2006, the cumulative debt had swelled to more than 2.5 billion yen. An upturn is not expected, even with the addition of another round-trip flight to Haneda in November.
