Japan’s Ministry of Tourism released a report on the number of foreign visitors with overnight stays in 2019. According to that report, six prefectures in Kyushu saw a decrease compared to 2018; Oita (-18.1%, 1,181,140 people), Saga (-13.7%, 338,110 people), Nagasaki (-13.7%, 742,600 people), Kumamoto (-8.7%, 924,580 people), Kagoshima (-4.8%, 790,720 people) and Miyazaki (-1.8%, 320,550 people). Only Fukuoka Prefecture saw a slight increase (+0.6%, 3,386,310 people). The total for the nation was 101,430,000, the largest on record since data records were first kept in 2007.
