Three buildings belonging to Kirishima Shrine in Kagoshima Prefecture were recently registered as national treasures. The shrine has survived damage from eruptions of Kirishima Mountain and fires in its long history but still has colorful dragon-shaped columns and other decorations. The current shrine was reconstructed in 1715 by the then-head of the Satsuma Clan. Registered buildings consist of honden (main hall,) haiden (worship hall), and heiden (offering hall.)
