A Fukuoka Prefecture investigation into groundwater contamination near Ashiya Air Base in Ashiya Town has revealed that two additional sites north of the base have PFAS levels exceeding national guidelines. The discovery follows an earlier finding of PFAS at 30 times the target level in a base well. Since December, the prefecture has expanded its survey beyond the base to define the contamination area. January testing found elevated levels at five locations east of the base within 500 meters. Source: Ashiya Town / NHK
