Plans to Refurbish Yahuoku! Dome

SoftBank announced that the Fukuoka Yahuoku! Dome will undergo a major renovation, including the construction of a new building inside the grounds and work to the stadium itself. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the team’s foundation and 30 years since the Hawks franchise relocated to Fukuoka. Plans are in place to develop a new seven-story, 17,000 square meters building, which will connect to the outer ring of the dome and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2020. The Sadaharu Oh Baseball Museum will be relocated and renovated as part of the new project. Moving the museum will allow for the stadium to expand the seating capacity (which currently stands at 38,530) to over 40,000. There are also plans to refurbish the stadium concourse, carry out work on the Hawks Vision electronic scoreboard to create a clearer display, and introduce a stereophonic sound system.
