Ponytails Considered Too Stimulating In Kagoshima Junior High Schools

Have you wondered why some school prohibits girls’ ponytails? A junior high school student in Kagoshima became skeptical when her teacher explained that boys become aroused by unaji hair at the nape of the neck. The prefectural assembly debated this matter and other gender-related school rules in the past. Last year, a female assembly member pointed out that forcing girls to wear white underwear or even asking them if they are dressed according to guidelines could be considered a form of sexual harassment.
