On August 28, Fukuoka City announced that the Port of Hakata will collaborate with the Port of Shanghai (one of the biggest ports in the world) to provide a service to facilitate realtime status confirmation of shipping containers. It is hoped that the IT-based system, which is known as HiTs, will make it easier for shippers and distributors to track containers when there are changes in schedule due to weather conditions or traffic.
