Post Office Accepting New Year’s Cards

The sending of nengajo (New Year’s cards) is a very popular tradition in Japan. Post offices officially began accepting nengajo on Dec. 15, and will continue to do so until Dec. 25. This means that any New Year’s cards posted within this period are guaranteed to be delivered on New Year’s Day. Post offices will also be selling nengajo until Jan. 8.
