Fukuoka Prefecture has started looking for new ways to make use of hydrogen. Joining forces with Kyushu University and Toyota Motor Co., the Prefecture aims to boost the profitability of hydrogen energy generated from solar power. If these efforts take root, they could lead not only to advances in hydrogen energy storage, but also to the expanded use of solar power and the steady supply of electricity from renewable sources. This follows on the heels of the Prefecture’s other hydrogen-related tests, such as the Kitakyushu Hydrogen Town project, which aims to supply hydrogen via pipeline. The Prefecture’s ultimate aim is to become a model for a hydrogen-based society. Source: fiba.jp
