In 2010, the Canal City United Cinemas got IMAX. In 2015, they opened a 4DX theater. Now, they’re opening a restaurant-style cinema theater, called “Premium Dining Cinema”, in screen 7 on Apr. 23 (Sat.). This is the first cinema theater of its kind to open in Japan, and there are only around 100 in the world (most of which are in the U.S.). The “Casual Seats” (46 in total) will be arranged like normal cinema seats but with one table per every two seats; the “Luxury Seats” (12 in total), made by Figueras (a Spanish brand), are electric reclining chairs complete with footrests, and each has a light attached so patrons can see their food. Main dishes (such as hamburg), sides, desserts and drinks (including wine, beer, highballs, etc.) will be available to order both before and during the screening.
