The National Tax Agency released their assessments of property values nationwide for the purposes of calculating inheritance and gift taxes. The property values for Kyushu as a whole fell 3.6% from the previous year, a third consecutive decline. The highest property value in the region is that for Watanabe-dori in the Tenjin 2-Chome district. Values there rose 1.1% to 4.64 million yen per square meter. Fukuoka City is the only prefectural capital in the country in which the value of the property with the highest tax assessment rose over the past year.
