On June 12, the Nishi-Nippon City Bank published results of a recent survey on expectations for summer bonus in 2019. Amongst the five-hundred respondents who live in Fukuoka Prefecture, only 11.6% answered that they are expecting a rise in their bonus, down by 3.6% compared with the year before. While there was a change in the survey method since 2018, the rate has fallen for four years in a row. The largest group of respondents ( 69.2%) said they expect a similar bonus as 2018. The most popular use of bonus is “to save money,” as recorded by 57.0%. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 6/12/2019
