Protester Behavior Prevents Discussion at Kitakyushu Meeting

The city of Kitakyushu convened a town meeting to enable Mayor Kenji Kitahashi to explain to the citizens the policy of accepting rubble from the Tohoku area for incineration locally, but problems started after the mayor gave his initial address. A protester in the hall demanded that a video be shown of the construction work on a retaining wall at a site for burying the incinerated refuse. That led to shouting, interruption of speakers, and the refusal to relinquish the microphones provided to the audience for asking questions. The meeting had to be ended without a meaningful discussion having occurred.
