Radioactive Iodine Leakage Reported At Genkai Nuclear Plant

Kyushu Electric Power (Kyuden) announced a leakage of radioactive iodine at its Genkai nuclear plant No. 3 reactor. The company first detected a higher iodine level in the plant’s cooling water in November 2021. Investigations found some leakage from one of the 193 fuel assemblies for the reactor. Additional examination for the reactor’s 264 fuel rods will take place from Mar. 13. Source: Nikkei / NHK
