Rail Companies Continue to Cut Services at Small Stations

Nishitetsu intends to turn eight more stations on the Tenjin-Omuta Line into uncrewed stations. Beginning April 1, stations in Sakurada, Mitsusawa, Tsubuku, and five other locations will discontinue onsite staff services. Surveillance cameras and intercoms will be used at those stations to provide safety and customer support. This will make more than half of Nishitetsu’s railway stations unmanned. Meanwhile, 16 groups of local people with disabilities and others recently requested JR Kyushu to cancel plans to remove staff from 29 of its stations. Source: Asahi  / KBC / Mainichi
