The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries released the results of its survey of the national rice crop as of the end of October, which found that the ratio in Kyushu of the highest quality rice, Grade 1, fell 9.2 percentage points from the previous month to 39.9%. That was the second lowest ratio of the nation’s nine regional blocs. The decline was attributed to the hotter than normal summer temperatures.
