A revised budget for the 2017 fiscal year will be submitted to the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly at their September gathering. The revision includes ¥64.3 billion to help fund reconstruction efforts in the areas hit the worst by July’s extreme weather conditions and torrential downpours. If the proposals go through, then the total budget for the prefecture will be in the region of ¥1.7 trillion yen. Officials have noted that the budget makes provisions for the costs of repairing bridges, embankments, and erosion control facilities. The figure will also cover subsidies should farmers need to replace agricultural machinery and look to support efforts to boost tourism in disaster-hit areas. The meeting will be held on September 11, Monday. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 8/21/2017
