Record High Shipping and Discharging Totals for Regional Ports
The Kyushu Transport Bureau released statistics for FY 2011 showing that the shipping and discharging totals for the 23 specially designated ports in Kyushu and Yamaguchi Prefecture rose 2.5% from the previous year to 184.75 million tons. This was the second annual increase and a record high. Demand from China and the newly developing countries was strong, and the increase in automobiles and related parts was particularly noteworthy.
