Kyushu regions marked its record-lowest job-openings-to-applicants ratios for teaching positions at elementary schools. While the national average in 2019 fell to 2.7 from the year before (-0.1), much lower numbers were reported in Kyushu; 1.4 for Saga Prefecture and Nagasaki Prefecture, 1.5 for Kitakyushu City, and 1.6 for Fukuoka Prefecture. Indeed, these regions were four of the five municipalities with the lowest ratios in the country.
