Record Number of Koreans Visited Tsushima in 2018

Tsushima City revealed on Jan. 30 that a record-high 409,882 Korean tourists visited the city in 2018. During 2018, the fifth and sixth ferry companies entered the Tsushima-Busan route, making transportation between the two areas even more convenient. Mayor Naoki Hitakatsu said that he is willing to prepare better facilities for the inbound tourists and attract five-hundred thousand people from overseas by 2020. According to the city, driving around with a rental car is one of the popular activities among the independent tourists. A second duty-free shop also opened in Hitakatsu Port in 2018.
