Regional Companies Pessimistic about Economy

The Nishinippon Shimbun conducted a survey of 111 leading companies in Kyushu on their views of the economy. The respondents who anticipate an economic downturn accounted for 28.8% of the total. This is a 7.3 percentage-point increase from the same survey conducted in October 2011. Combined with those who thought the economy would come to a standstill, the total reached 95.5%. Most of the respondents thought external factors were to blame, including a deceleration in the Asian and American economies, and worsening relations with China. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun
